Located in Três Pontas, Brazil, Caxambu and Aracaçau are neighbouring farms managed by Carmem Lúcia, known to friends as Ucha. Recognised as one of the most influential figures in Brazilian agribusiness, Ucha has spent years pushing quality and innovation forward in coffee production.

That progressive mindset can be seen throughout the farms. In 2024, a fully solar-powered system was introduced, helping to reduce the farms’ environmental impact. More recently, advanced colour-sorting technology and AI-assisted quality control have been adopted to improve consistency and cup quality.

Innovation extends far beyond technology. Ucha works closely with biologists to better understand the farm’s microbiome before introducing any biological controls. A bee project involving more than three million bees helps improve flower health and increase sugar development in the coffee cherries, while also supporting local beekeepers and biodiversity.

Sustainability is central to the farm’s approach. Around 27% of the land is dedicated to natural preservation, providing a habitat for a remarkable range of wildlife, including toucans, capybaras, deer, anteaters and even wild cats such as ocelots. Researchers and coffee specialists regularly collaborate with the farm, continually exploring new ways to improve processing and quality.

Quality is overseen by Dionathan Almeida, the 2024 World Cup Tasters Champion, whose work helps bridge the gap between processing and roasting. Combined with Ucha’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and community, the result is a coffee that truly reflects the care and expertise behind it.
